The death toll in the devastating avalanche that struck an army camp in Gurez Sector of Kashmir has risen to 10, the army has said.
According to reports, at least four are still missing, even though the exact number is not yet clear. Heavy snowfall in the area has hampered the search ongoing operations.
The avalanche hit an army camp in Gurez sector of Bandipora district near the Line of Control Wednesday evening in which several soldiers were trapped.
“Rescue teams were able to retrieve three bodies from the spot of the incident while some soldiers are still missing,” an army official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was saddened by the death of the soldiers.
