Acid Attack Survivor Gets A Call From A ‘Wrong Number,’ It Blossoms In To Love Then Marriage

Love is strange. You fall in love with the most unexpected person, at the most unexpected time. And more often than not it ends up being the most beautiful story.

This is the love story of Lalita Benbansi, who happens to be an acid attack victim. Back in 2012, she was attacked by her cousin over a minor family quarrel. The acid attack, led to a complete face burn, and she had to undergo 17 surgeries.

The episode left Lalita absolutely hopeless, until something miraculous took place when she received a call from an unknown number. Little did she know that this one call would completely change her life.

The call was from a man named Rahul Kumar and over the course of two months the two got to know each other and decided to tie the knot.

“It had always been my dream to do something different. I knew I would do something good. My mother supported me and my entire family. Didn’t know a wrong number would change my life entirely,” said an elated Rahul Kumar who is smitten by Lalita’s inner beauty.

An equally overwhlemed Lalita told ANI,”I had never thought that I would ever get married. He, even after knowing about the truth, still remained on his decision to marry me.”

Saahas foundation, an NGO overseeing Lalita’s rehabilitation said that, Bollywood Actor Vivek Oberoi gifted the newly weds an apartment in Thane. He has also agreed to pay for her surgeries.

“I wish they stay happy together. He (Rahul) loves her truly. He was telling me that their love story is filmy. It was a wrong number and then they became friends. Now they are starting a new life. Lalita is a strong girl. I met Lalita when we had an awareness programme held by Sahas foundation,” said Vivek.

Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla prepared Lalita’s attire and presented her with a wedding necklace.
