Archana Srivastava, Founder Gavaksh has the spirit of an entrepreneur and the heart of a social worker. With more than 13 years of rich experience of working for causes, she has been responsible for conceptualising, implementing and coordinating various key programs with different segments of society.
During the early age of her life, like many other girls, Archana too faced a lot of restrictions and constraints when she first stepped out of the safety of her home. Her immediate family and extended family had their own set of reservations about the sort of work she was undertaking to do. They were worried about her safety, what people would say and whether it would be enough to bring home her bread and butter.
But today she is running her own NGO near ITO, New Delhi. Every day brings in a new set of challenges and lessons. But the good part is that now she faces her challenges with an easy heart.
“I know I am on the right path. I am doing what I am meant to do. My mind is clear about the vision I need to pursue. I am happy with the way things are shaping up for GavaKsh.”
The most defining and magical moment for Archana so far has been the birth of her dream project “GavaKsh – window to happiness”. This brainchild was born on 31st December 2014. This project is an attempt to bring happiness into the lives of children coming from under privileged section of our society.
Archana discovered that the cause of working towards Social development of underprivileged children, pulls at her heartstrings the most. Honouring her soul purpose, she has been working consistently and diligently towards taking her work to the next level. Each new activity undertaken in the project run under her leadership, is inspired by love for the work she is doing. She is gifted with excellent communication skills, which she uses effectively to rope in skilled and dedicated volunteers for her various programs.
It aims to reach out to the children with lesser means to provide them with meaningful education. The objective is to make education fun by using interactive learning and teaching techniques like dance, music, observation, art and craft, games, workshops and such tools. The intention is to ensure that each child who joins the NGO, looks forward to the next session.
“Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and or research.” says Archana
Therefore, Gavaksh tries to inspire and initiate radical solutions which have the potential to change the lives of children who have been deprived of what they deserve. For more details about the project and all that it undertakes to do can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/gavaKshIndia.
To the fellow womenfolk Archana gives out a powerful message:
“It’s time for us “WOMEN” to come forth and undertake some extra initiatives. We need to help create an environment of empowerment for other women around us, who are still struggling for their basic rights of education, equality and safety. It is our responsibility to make sure that we co – create an environment of awareness, education and nurturing such that every female is able to rejoice in being a woman!”
