In this era of the 21st century when advancement in technology has left the traditional patriarchal norms existing in the country, the pertinent question which lies is that do we as women can enjoy the freedom and democracy on the streets? Do we have safer public spaces?
To bring out the intensive solutions in mind, Breakthrough India, a human rights organization working to make violence against women and girls unacceptable along with The Bikerni, an organization that promote female motorcyclists in India and provide them a platform to connect with other female enthusiasts and improve their skills have come together for a bike rally under #StandWithMe campaign on the streets of Delhi this weekend on 27th November.
This rally is a clarion call of women, for women and by women. It is an attempt to restore the fundamental rights of women i.e a reclamation of public spaces, a conversation on the deep rooted issues that lead to sexual violence, safer spaces for women, free of judgement and prejudice.
