The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is better known for changing the face of railway ticketing in India and is known for its robust payment gateway system.
In order to capture more customers, IRCTC has now ventured into yet another innovative payment option. For the first time, IRCTC is offering ‘Pay-on-Delivery’ (PoD) option for buying railway e-tickets. ‘Pay on Delivery’ payment option would allow the user to pay at the time of delivery through any payment mode including cash.
IRCTC through its website and mobile app has now introduced ‘Pay-on-Delivery’ as one of the payment options for its customers.
Delivering tickets at consumer’s doorstep by offering the pay-on-delivery option will facilitate those consumers who book tickets through travel agents to move to online medium. It will also certainly encourage people who book tickets at railway reservation counters to move to online medium as there is a cost and effort associated to reach out to the reservation counters.
Is Pay on Delivery Available Everywhere?
The service will be available in more than 600 cities/towns covering more than 4000 pin codes and would be initially available for 5 days before the departure date.
How Register for Pay on Delivery?
A customer will have to do a one-time registration for availing PoD as a payment option. A customer will have to tender either Aadhaar or Pan card to avail this payment option.
