In the recent quench of making Delhi inclusive in the Smart City plan, NDMC(New Delhi Municipal Corporation) is planning to relocate the mute, innocent stray dogs into the sanctuaries. In order to bring out this idea in reality the organization has started a survey wherein they are taking the opinion of the residents of Delhi through a SMS poll by typing Y 11 and N11 and sending to 9225592255.
A lot of animal lovers and animal rescue organizations are shocked to hear this decision and are voicing out their opinions and views against it. They are urging people to type N11 which is a strict No to the decision. On the basis of the poll the decision will be made.
Barnali Saha, a resident of Dwarka and a constant supporter of the stray dogs says “I think the NDMC scheme is outrageous. Those of us who feed street dogs regularly make sure that they are in good hands. The NDMC shelters will be cold, hard foodless shelters for these poor babies where they will eventually die without love or care. Our country doesn’t bother about people dying everyday, and I don’t believe it will dispense humane treatment to stray dogs. The scheme is unethical and should be scrapped without delay.”
Another resident Crystal Jennifer Machado says” Come forward to take the initiative to help in this work of God, that gave you a life for a reason. Save dogs of Delhi please. For those especially who take care of them on the street, atleast stand up for the work they are doing.
People are really worried on this issue and decision. According to the recent trends the ABC rules as well as sterilizations are being conducted properly by the rescue teams. Though they are looking out for an alternative option of relocating them to sanctuaries but what remains a worry is the fact who will take care of these poor souls over there. Who is going to feed them and what will be their fate?
“ Its good that NDMC has managed to look for an alternate solution to the issue of growing population of stray animals. But they need to foresee that reallocation only means a much more tortured death to the animals. Dogs are territorial animals and function true to “survival of the fittest”! in that case how many can still make it to their bread crumb?” says Deepika Deepti, a resident of Vasant Kunj.
You can also raise out your voice for these stray animals by typing N11 and sending to 9225592255. Simply Say a No to this decision.
