On Sunday in capital Those In Need, a not for profit organization arranged ‘Dangal with someone special’, a lunch plus movie party event for underprivileged kids who have never been to a movie before. Those In Need believes that educating our young minds from the beginning will make our society better tomorrow. With that in mind, Those In Need wanted to educate everyone that girls are no less than boys.
Accordingly, around 80 girls from the NGO Kilkari and 30 participants joined the Those In Need team for the event. Everyone gathered in Connaught Place at around 11:30 at Dominoes, CP for a brunch. After a lively tour to the kitchens of Dominoes and laughter filled brunch and photo sessions, the girls proceeded to PVR in Connaught Place. Afternoon movie screening of Dangal, filled with popcorns and what not, enthralled the audience. The girls left the theatre imagining themselves in the shoes of ‘Geeta’ and ‘Babita’. Says Pooja, a girl for Kilkari, “Geeta ke paas Babita thi. Mere paas toh itni saari behne hain. Main kuch bada zaroor karungi” (Geeta had Babita, while I have so many sisters for support. I’ll definitely do something big). This was an enriching experience for all who were a part of it.
A big shout-out was given to the Those In Need team for seamlessly managing the event – from pick up to drop of 80+ girls. A teacher with Kilkari said, “It is so nice to such a caring group of people. We did not even have to get involved in any organizing and monitoring. The children enjoyed very much”. Ekta, a volunteer with Those In Need, added,” It was so much fun watching a movie with these lovely girls. I had so much fun.”
This was the second such movie event for Those In Need, and they are planning to organize a lot more events to raise awareness on various issues in the society.
