In a horrific case of animal cruelty, a man in Hyderabad deliberately set fire to two puppies who were one-and-a-half months old. The man, who worked at a residential complex in Bowenpally, knew that the bush he was igniting had two puppies and their mother nestled within.
The accused, who was later identified as Ramakrishna, has been arrested by the Bowenpally police. The incident happened at Satya Sai Enclave on Dairy Farm Road.
While the mother dog escaped, her children were not as fortunate. While one puppy died immediately, the other suffered 40 percent burns. However, two days after being admitted at Blue Cross of Hyderabad, even the latter succumbed to its injuries.
The animal welfare organisation, People for Animals, lodged a police complaint on the incident, following which the police booked a case under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
